On Saturday 10th October, The A-Team entered a football tournament organised by the Warehouse Recovery Project based in Dudley. The tournament took place at Power League in Halesowen and consisted of teams of treatment service providers and service users within the substance misuse field.
eight teams took part in the competition and were initially split into two groups. The teams played every other team in their group twice, with the top two teams going through to the semi-finals.
Following a hard fought first round, The A-Team came second in their group and played the winners of the opposite group in the semi-final. After a nail biting first half where the opposition scored, Peter Hollis equalised for The A-Team with a truly amazing goal. At the full time whistle, the score was 1-1 so the teams went to penalties. Hollis again worked his magic by saving two goals, which saw the A-Team into the final.
The A-Team were not so lucky in the final, however they were playing against a team who played together regularly and deserved the win. The A-Team were happy to be runners up considering it was their debut as a football team, and are looking forward to future events.
