The A-Team attended a number of fresher fares around Birmingham which included Digbeth Campus, Hall Green Campus, Bournville College and Bordesley Green Campus.

Setting up was a cinch once we had mastered the jigsaw scaffolding for our promo- board which stood out from the crowd. No, really! It was about five times larger than those on the other stands….

We kicked off the week with Digbeth Campus where the students initially eyed our stand with suspicion, but getting out the "beer goggles" attracted a lot of interest, giggles and engagement.

Obviously we were there to promote awareness around alcohol consumption which was supported by handing out unit-wheel counters, leaflets with information about how to get in touch with us if needed, but most popular were our free pens and beer coasters.

A lot of the students were surprised by the government recommendations of safe drinking levels, but what seemed to hit home with most was the rate at which the body eliminates alcohol and the implications for drink-driving – 1 unit per hour!

Many of the university staff attended our stand and were happy to take away booklets and info for their students, but also engaged in discussion about our service.

Organising the week was quite hectic, but all-in-all a tremendous success.
